Requirements and Expectations:
The National Honor Society is an organization of students who meet the highest standards of Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. Students must have junior or senior status. There is an application and selection process in order to obtain membership into this group.
CHARACTER
The student consistently acts as a positive role model for others, demonstrates an optimistic, can do attitude, is polite and well mannered; The student shows the highest ethical and moral behaviors in academic, athletic and community pursuits. Attendance at all obligations and clean speech is expected.
SCHOLARSHIP
The student must consistently maintain a GPA of 3.63
LEADERSHIP
The student must show leadership both in and out of the classroom, engage in an identified position of leadership in other community or sport organization, act as a guiding force in another organization, meaningful activity or project, and otherwise serve as a role model to others. Leadership is consistently demonstrating initiative and taking responsibility for one's own or a group's actions.
SERVICE
The student energetically participates in activities that assist and benefit others without pay.
These qualities will be monitored regularly by the advisers and officers of the organization. Students who do not consistently meet these standards will be addressed via a formal hearing that includes: adviser, student, parent, and high school administration. Disciplinary options will include: mentoring, probationary period, dismissal or other appropriate action.
