  • late

  • absent from school

  • needs an early dismissal

Attendance

Please call all absences and late arrivals into the Attendance Office as soon as possible in the morning. This includes appointments and all out-of-town absences. Without notification, the Attendance Secretary will call home and/or work to inquire about the student’s absence. New York State Law requires a written note on the student’s return to school explaining the nature of the absence. Your student’s absence will be unexcused until the written excuse is received. 

Extended Absence

If you are going on a trip or will have an extended absence, your child should fill out an Extended Leave Sheet informing the teacher and staff that your child will be absent.

Tardiness to School

All students are expected to arrive to school on time (by 7:25) as classes begin at 7:30. Any student who is late to school must have a parent call the Attendance Secretary or present a written explanation from a parent or guardian for the tardiness. Tardiness is regularly monitored and if a pattern of tardiness develops it will be addressed by the Assistant Principal.

Early Dismissal

Students who need to be dismissed early from school should bring in a signed note from their parent or guardian on the day they need to leave. Notes should be brought to the Attendance Secretary first thing in the morning so that the dismissal can be noted on the morning attendance bulletin. Students will be given an Early Dismissal pass which they will give to their teacher at the time of dismissal. If the student returns to school, they must sign back in and get a pass to go to class.

Late Bus

Late bus passes or passes to ride another bus may be obtained from the Attendance Office before 2:00 pm!

Forget Something?

If you need to drop off something to the high school that your student forgot, please bring it to the Attendance Office in the main lobby. It helps us if you can inform your student that it will be left in the Attendance Office so they can claim the item between classes.
