Congratulations to Manor School teachers Brittney Goodyear and Gwen Henderson on being recipients of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! Goodyear and Henderson were nominated by Amy and Carson Lewis.
They noted the following: "Our daughter, Emma has Brittney Goodyear and Gwen Henderson for 3rd grade this year, and we feel as if we have hit the "teacher jackpot" with these two wonderful ladies. They are truly the best! Mrs. Goodyear and Mrs. Henderson have created a wonderful and warm environment for their students to learn in, and grow in, both academically and as individuals. They have created a little family in their classroom. It is truly evident how much they both love and care for their students, and their jobs. My daughter, Emma says, “Mrs. Goodyear truly cares about us, and makes learning fun for us. Mrs. Goodyear and Mrs. Henderson are happy to see us and smiling even when things are tough.” Also, Emma has always struggled with math and needed extra help. However, this is the first year that she has enjoyed it, and in turn is doing so much better, thanks to Mrs. Goodyear’s teaching style. It was once said that “the influence of a good teacher can never be erased”-(Unknown), and that is truly the case for these two ladies. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for putting your hearts and souls into teaching HF-L students. We are forever grateful!"
Congratulations to student Emilia C. on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! Emilia was nominated by her bus driver, Miss Kristie. Miss Kristie noted the following: "Emilia has gone above and beyond to be very welcoming, thoughtful, kind, and caring. When she realized we had two new students on the bus and one was sitting alone, she so thoughtfully asked if she could sit with her. I observed the two having a great conversation the whole bus ride home. Emilia really made this student feel welcomed. She has been an exemplary student on the bus, and I look forward to seeing her every day!"

🌟 HF-L senior Paige took the stage at the Monroe County Legislative Breakfast to passionately advocate for universal free meals in public schools! 🥪 Her inspiring presentation highlighted the importance of addressing food insecurity to promote equity for all students. 💛🖤
The event also featured HF-L Board of Education members and Assistant Superintendent Colin Pierce, who discussed sustainability efforts like zero-emission school buses and equitable funding for schools. 🚍📚
